This is a picture of me, Dewey, with a brace I wore on my left leg due to this disease…….
Legg–Calvé–Perthes syndrome is a degenerative disease of the hip joint, where growth/loss of bone mass leads to some degree of collapse of the hip joint and to deformity of the ball of the femur and the surface of the hip socket. The disease is characterized by idiopathic avascular osteonecrosis of the capital femoral epiphysis of the femoral head leading to an interruption of the blood supply of the head of the femur close to the hip joint. The disease is typically found in young children.
I wore this brace when I was 4 years old up until I was 5 1/2. I remember Doctor Meridith in Mankato, Minn saying I may never walk and run like the other children……he was just about 7 feet tall and with him leaning over looking at me and my Mom and Dad those words had a great impact on my life!
At 54 I play softball and slide into third base!!! I take this brace from me time to time when I speak, to give others inspiration. Dear Dewey, Docs told my parents that would never be able to straighten my arm … well…God had other ideas! Docs at a different time, told my parents that I
would be dead before they could get me to the hospital… well, this is me typing at age 46. God is above all and through all and in all. Thanks for sharing your testimony! Just saying, I believe, and because I accept God and his testimony about his Son, I also am blessed beyond my comprehension.
I get angry at people, but God will not allow me to stay in that place of being cursed. He brings me the truth and I am set free!
I bring praise to God tonight!
